Describing an dInvestigation Upon the Pollution of the Natural Water Courses, and Recommending a System of Sewage Disposal and an Apportionment of Cost By Snow & Barbour, Engineers. Description of the North River problem, including a topography of both Salem and Peabody, the pollution resulting from the tanneries, bleachery and glue works and the need for a sewerage system in Peabody. Though the problem didn't affect Peabody, Salem was being affected by the dumping of waste into the brooks which flowed into the North River. This investigation includes photographs, graphs of water flow, pictures of the weirs used to measure the water flow and descriptions of the industries in Peabody and their influence on the problem. |
