Object Name Scrapbook
Scope & Content This scrapbook was arranged without consideration of chronology or subject. The letters, few prints, one telegram and few receipts deal primarily with the celebration of George Peabody's visit to Danvers and South Danvers in 1856 and the volume written regarding those proceedings. Included are a telegram from Charles Sumner from England, declining nomination to the governorship, Custom House receipts from New Orleans and four prints. Interesting autographs are those of Washington Irving, Daniel Webster, Millard Fillmore, Rufus Choate, George Peabody, Edward Everett, Charles Sumner, Nathaniel Bowditch, Josiah Quincy, Jr., Israel Putnam and Caleb Cushing.
